The Worcester Chapter maintains over 100 miles of trails in the region There are various opportunities for members to help to maintain and protect these trails. They include the Midstate Trail and Wachusett Mountain State Reservation.

AMC’s Adopt-A-Trail program enables volunteers to take ownership on a section of specific trail and oversee basic maintenance of that trail. The prospective Adopter chooses from a list of open trails and plans at least two work trips per year to check on its condition, clear drainage areas, lop the corridor, and dig into small projects as well as reporting on larger issues in need of addressing by a trail crew. Taking on the stewardship of a trail is a privilege, and it is important that the adopter take the responsibilities of maintaining the trail seriously. As an individual, the volunteer can work on the trail when it suits their schedule and may bring friends and family along for the experience too. Training will be provided.
