How to Obtain Gear

  1. User will send a request for gear use at least two weeks prior to their trip to Worcester Gear Shed Coordinator Ingrid Molnar, imolnar1@verizon.net to get on the calendar.
  2. User will complete an equipment request form and return to Ingrid.
  3. Volunteers will pull the gear and will identify a mutually convenient pick-up date.
  4. The user picks up the gear from the gear shed on the appointed date.
  5. Users will return the gear, clean and dry, to the gear shed, and a volunteer will review and re-shelve the borrowed gear.

Please note that gear is granted based on availability.

We have specific defined user groups in our current format as we have a finite amount of gear and ability to support groups in its new format. Those user groups are:

  1. AMC’s Educators Outdoors https://www.outdoors.org/community/center-for-outdoor-learning-and-leadership/educators-outdoors/
  2. AMC 20’s & 30’s – sanctioned chapter trips
  3. AMC Intro Workshops and Adventures – sanctioned chapter trips
  4. AMC Family Outings – sanctioned chapter trips

While AMC is interested in increasing gear access to more user groups, our AMC Worcester shed is the 1st pilot project into this realm. We are using equipment purchased via grant and foundational money for Educators Outdoors and have expanded the use to other Worcester Chapter user groups in hopes of serving more people new to the outdoors and affiliated with AMC. AMC may look to expand gear access and training for those using borrowed equipment further, but currently is limited in scope.
