There is still space available on The Ponds of the Pemi Backpack (Sat.-Sun Aug 2-3rd) Approx 20 mi., some strenuous but mostly slight elevation gains. Moderately paced backpack to the backwoods ponds and falls of the Pemi including, Norcross, Nancy, Ethan and Shoal ponds. Experienced backpackers who are ready for an overnight in the most remote sections of the Pemigawasset Wilderness. Must be ready for lots of mud and bugs, too, but will experience the most beautiful sections of the Whites that most visitors do not see. Contact Steve Ciras for more information or to register.

Tues and Thurs Night Bike Rides. Rides start at 6P and are ~1-1.5 hours long followed by dinner at a local restaurant, location varies week to week. Tues Night Rides are rated easy (for average riders with solid experience 10-12mph) and Thurs. Night Rides are rated Intermediate (for strong riders 13-15 mph). A great way to unwind and get some exercise after work, if you are unsure which ride is best for you contact the leader or our Bike Chair: John Gau. See Biking for details.

Hike the Mid-State Trail. The Mid-State Trail is a scenic footpath in Worcester County which extends 92 miles from the RI border to NH. The MST Committee runs an end to end series of hikes every year starting in May. See the Midstate Trail page for complete schedule.

The Worcester Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club promotes the protection, enjoyment, and wise use of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Northeast. In particular, our Chapter is dedicated to the outdoor resources of Central Massachusetts, for the purposes of education, recreation, and conservation. Founded in 1918, the Worcester Chapter has over 2,500 members, all of whom are dedicated to having fun in the outdoors. We offer activities for all levels, including backpacking trips, day hikes, bike rides, rock climbing, skiing, and a wide range of social events and educational programs.
