Family Leaders Wanted!
Family activities have had a short tradition with the Worcester Chapter; about fifteen years. In that time, we've discovered something about what works and what doesn't. We've found that fifteen year-olds aren't interested in the same things that three year-olds are! We've discovered that kids of all ages want to share some of the responsibility on the trip. We've found that grown-ups, are better behaved when there are kids about. We've discovered that the younger the kid, the more they need to set the pace. It's their trip. Kids want to learn things.
The Families Committee offers something for everyone: White Mountain day hikes for teens, paddling for kids over two, camping for every age, and even local day hikes for kids in between. Keep your eye on the web site for our upcoming geocaching trips, the Friday Night Kick-off Intro hikes, suitable for kids six and up, and canoeing in the local rivers and state parks.
The AMC builds good people, and there's no better place to start than with kids.
